Creature of Habit

Now might seem a silly time to bring this up, given how well I've been doing, but I have to confess some anxiety over not being able to sustain the eating habits I established with Angela.

I've had more than one drink almost every night this week. Last night I had four pieces of pizza. Small and veggie, but four.

I was pretty sure--and am disappointed to find that I was right--that once my daily meals were out from under Angela's hawk-like gaze, they would resume their debauched laxity.

It's all well and good for now. I'm still breastfeeding, and plan to be until June (when the Cricket turns one). That can burn up to 350 calories a day. Which is why I think it's really important to get to my goal weight and establish good eating habits now--because it'll be much harder when I no longer have that automatic calorie burn.

I'm talking about something I can live with for the rest of my life. I really don't want to diet ever again. But I also don't have the money to see a trainer once a week until I die in a heli-skiing accident at the age of 82, you know? Which means I've got to develop the skills and discipline to keep MYSELF accountable, rather than having someone do it for me.

I'm overly sensitive, but the "more than one drink every night" is sending up, well - if not a red flag, perhaps a merlot one.

Is it the tasty beverage or the alcohol that you're craving?

Is there something you can substitute that would be healthier yet not leave you feeling deprived?

Hang in there!
