It's just what it sounds like. Despite three days of angelic behavior (and four before that of not particularly satanic behavior), my weight keeps going up. It still hasn't gotten above 170, which is good, so we're really talking increments here, but still. It doesn't seem to matter what I do.

It's not that I think I'll be here forever. It's that I'm worried that a lack of results (combined with no longer seeing Angela on a regular basis) will make it easier to fall into old (read: bad) habits.

To wit: last night after finishing my workout, halo firmly attached to my pate, I made myself a great big dinner salad, a few whole-grain crackers, and a little bit of cheese. I poured myself a glass (just one!) of red wine and sat down to a very satisfying meal. Which I proceeded to follow up with a Twix and a handful of M&M's. Sigh.

Today I'm working at the office in the morning and at home in the afternoon (while the Cricket is still at the nanny's), and in between I'm planning on a nice long workout followed by a nice long shower. I'm hoping that will make me feel better. We'll see.

In the meantime, I'm cranky, miss my husband, have a headache, have so much work do to it's not even funny, my internet connection at home isn't working, my house is dirty, and I still feel fat. And I'm not even on my period! What's wrong with me?!

Nothing. Not a damn thing. There is nothing wrong with you. You have very high expectations for yourself, your body, and your housecleaning. Dandle that baby on your knee and give her belly zerberts and forget the housecleaning. Eat good, healthy for satiety. You are FINE--in all senses of the word.

Venetianblond is a wise woman.

Remember that poem:

Mother, of Mother, come shake out your cloth
empty the dustpan, poison the moth,
hang out the washing and butter the bread,
sew on a button and make up a bed.

Where is the mother whose house is so shocking?
She's up in the nursery, blissfully rocking.

Oh, I've grown shiftless as Little Boy Blue
(lullaby, rockabye, lullaby loo).
Dishes are waiting and bills are past due
(pat-a-cake, darling, and peek, peekaboo).

The shopping's not done and there's nothing for stew
and out in the yard there's a hullabaloo
but I'm playing Kanga and this is my Roo.
Look! Aren't her eyes the most wonderful hue?
(lullaby, rockaby, lullaby loo).

The cleaning and scrubbing will wait till tomorrow,
for children grow up, as I've learned to my sorrow.
So quiet down, cobwebs. Dust go to sleep.
I'm rocking my baby and babies don't keep.

Hey Al! I finally found what I was looking for online regarding whether or not you gain weight right away if you "stray" from your routine. It looks like a good website to check out, too:) Keep the faith, babe! You can do it!

Enjoy:) Happy St. Patty's Day!
